Kurt Jennings, Chairperson

Kurt Jennings currently serves as Chaiperson-Elect. Kurt has been a member of FEHA since 1999 when he began his career as an Environmental Health Intern with the Volusia County Health Department in the Daytona Beach Environmental Health Office. Kurt then took a position in the Orange City office, and is currently the septic specialist in the same office. He served Halifax FEHA as the Secretary 1999-2006. Kurt also serves as the Historian for FEHA.
Kurt's hobbies include running marathons for the sheer fun of it, miniature golf, going to Disney World and running marathons at Disney World. |

Robert Maglievaz , Chairperson-Elect

Robert is the indoor environmental quality and institutional environmental health specialist for the Volusia County Health Department and has been a member of the Halifax District of the Florida Environmental Health Association since 2000. He holds a BS degree in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and an MSPH degree in Public Health and Industrial Hygiene from the University of South Florida. He is also a Registered Sanitarian and Certified Industrial Hygienist. Long ago, Robert realized that public education, awareness and self-empowerment, rather than government rule-making and regulatory enforcement, were the true keys for protecting ourselves against diseases of environmental origin. This realization has led to a life-long passion for finding and using cutting-edge educational methods to raise environmental health awareness in children and adults. When not at work, he can usually be found hanging around others who share his passion for making our world a better place. |

Albert Royster , Vice-Chairperson

Albert is an Environmental Specialist at the Deland EH Field Office. He is involved with various duties in the OSTDS program. He is a state licensed water and wastewater treatment operator and an active member of FEHA and FOWA. Albert has shared tips with Onsite System Management with area schools, homeowner groups, and technical training sessions attended by environmental professionals. Albert has given presentations on septic system maintenance in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, and Hawaii.

Eric Maday, R.S., Past Chairperson

Eric Maday currently serves as Chairperson. Eric has been a member of FEHA since 1995 when he began his career as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Volusia County Health Department in the Orange City Environmental Health Office after serving as an intern. Eric graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health from Illinois State University. Eric currently is a Pool and Food Program Specialist for the Volusia County Health Department in the Orange City Environmental Health Office.

Kathie Maves, Secretary

Hi. I am Kathie Maves, ESI at the Volusia County Environmental Health Lab in Daytona Beach, Florida. I test surface waters nutrients and microbiological samples on all types of water matrices.
I love my job! Environmental issues have always been important to me, and I am very happy to be working to make sure our water is safe for everyone in East Central Florida. |

Brian Volkman R.S., Treasurer

Brian Volkman currently serves as treasurer for the Halifax District of the Florida Environmental Health Association, where he has been a proud member since 2002. Brian first started his career in Environmental Health in 2002 when he started working for the Volusia County Health Department as an Environmental Specialist I. Currently, Brian is an Environmental Specialist II in the Orange City Office where he is a program specialist in the Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System program. Brian is a graduate of Ohio University were he received a B.S. in Environmental Health Science and is currently a student at the University of South Florida were he has started working to achieve his Masters in Public Health.

Monae Bates, Member-at-Large

Monae Bates serves as the Member-at Large and is the social committee chairperson. She became a FEHA member after joining the Volusia County Health Department in 2004. Her family owns and operates a fernery in Pierson where she lives with her husband and two children. She currently works in the Enterprise Environmental Health Office as a Senior Word Processing Systems Operator.
Monae received the 2005 Halifax District Rookie of the Year Award. |
