On Saturday, May 14th, approximately 12 members of the Halifax FEHA District participated in the 9 th Annual St. Johns River Cleanup. This event was held in conjunction with National River Cleanup Week.
Sponsors for this year’s event included the cities of Lake Helen, Pierson, DeBary, Deltona and Orange City. Other sponsors were Waste Management, Quality Brands and Volusia County Government.
Members met at Lake Monroe Park and traveled to Gemini Springs and then on to the Seminole County side of Lake Monroe picking up trash all along the way.
Each member participating received a tee shirt and $5 in FEHA Bucks to use to purchase any item from the state FEHA website. The big winner of the day was our Chairperson elect, Mr. Scott Chambers, who won the drawing for $45 in FEHA bucks. Congratulations to Scott!
After the cleanup, members were able to go back over to Lake Monroe Park for a nice lunch that was provided by the event sponsors. The next St. Johns River Cleanup is tentatively scheduled for May 13, 2006.
Thanks to all of the members came out to participate in this community service event. We know the community appreciates your support!
