On May 12, 2006 Halifax FEHA members participated in the annual St. Johns River Cleanup. For the first time, members split into two groups and went to different areas of Volusia County. The Volusia County Environmental Health Lab was well represented with many people participating including FEHA members Jack Towle and Elaine Racicot. The lab crew went to Ninemile Point in Pierson where there was much trash to be collected as you can see from the pictures.
The other Halifax FEHA group consisted of Scott Chambers, Lee Faircloth, Paul Hextell, and Brian Volkman. This group went to the Lemon Bluff boat ramp in Osteen. At this location groups went into the river with canoes to pickup trash. There was not as much trash to pick up at this location, but no one complained as the canoe trip made it a fun day for participants.
Afterwards all participants were treated to a catered BBQ lunch and received a t-shirt. Halifax FEHA members who participated also received $5 FEHA bucks and Elaine Racicot was the lucky winner of $45 for a one-year renewal of her FEHA membership.
